Thales Upgrades Datacryptor Ethernet Layer 2 Network Encryptors

February 8, 2018

Thales, leader in information systems and communications security, announces that its Datacryptor 100 Mbps and 1 Gbps Ethernet Layer 2 network encryptors now have the capability to operate in multipoint, fully meshed environments, enabling organizations to reduce their information security cost.

This newly added multipoint capability enables any one node in the network to securely connect simultaneously to any other node, thus reducing the total number of encryptors required to protect multiple connections.

Government agencies and enterprise customers are now able to protect sensitive data in transit across fully-meshed distributed applications more cost effectively with fewer dedicated encryption appliances.

With the added benefit of an integrated automatic key generation and distribution capability, Datacryptor Ethernet Layer 2 can be easily deployed as a bump-in-the-wire security solution requiring no network reconfiguration.

“The volume of data used by governments and enterprises to conduct daily business continues to grow exponentially, and the increasingly distributed network connections employed to exchange these critical resources are putting information at greater risk of interception.

Due to the plethora of regulations around the world mandating the protection of sensitive information in transit, where it is most vulnerable, government and enterprise customers are adopting Ethernet Layer 2 Multipoint encryption as a highly cost effective solution for protecting sensitive information with minimal impact on operational performance over increasingly meshed network configurations” says Franck Greverie, Vice President, Managing Director for the information systems security activities of Thales.

“Thales is dedicated to delivering solutions that meet customer needs and the introduction of an Ethernet Layer 2 Multipoint encryption capability offers unprecedented advantages, allowing customers to better utilize their data transport infrastructure in a secure and cost-effective manner.”
